Swaps n Trades – Survival Safety Engineering CARD — 1 Comment

  1. It works great while on a long passage away from the coast. It uses very little electricity as it is only a little radio receiver which never transmits. We therefore kept it on when away from the coast and lots of traffic. We never used the radar when in clear weather and not powering because of the high power consumption. Several times the CARD beeped, warning us we were being scanned by Radar of a ship or a fisherman while we were not playing close attention. Along the coast where there are so many coastal radar stations, it is of little use and we often left it off. However, while on a long offshore passage with little ship traffic, it does provide a margin of safety making it worthwhile. The Card detected ships 15 to 20 miles away.

Our congrats on making a great voyage! Jerry
