Spectra Capehorn Extreme Unboxing Video
on May 5, 2011 at 10:36Posted In: Systems - Plumbing, Systems - Watermaker
Around the time of the Seattle Boat Show I announced we purchased a Spectra Capehorn Extreme. Since I had just broken my clavicle though, we delayed delivery for several months. Now it’s here and you can watch the unboxing video in all it’s glory!
I’m actually cruising along on the installation, but I’ll save information on that for another post once I get some pictures taken.
Greetings, Glad your mending well. You have a great site and chronicled you project well. I had a question concerning your spar and mast overhaul. You mentioned a product called Belzona. Did you like it? is it still holding up and did it cover well.
I have multiple rivet holes that a previous owner did… I wanted to fill and repaint. Which specific Product did you use.
Thanks in advance for your time.
Very cool site. We live over in Eagle Harbor and have a Westsail 42.
Regards,
CAH
We did use Belzona to fill the screw and corrosion holes in our spars, but first they were sand blasted. The material appears to be holding up well. It’s a two part material with aluminum filler. They only problem in working with it is that if it sets up and you’re not done you need to make some more.
I forget the exact paint which was used. They were painted by Seaview Boatyard – West. Ask for Tom he supervised all our fiberglass and paint work and he’s a great guy!
If you’re not going to paint the entire spar, I think you’re going to have issues with getting new paint to stick to old paint, again another great thing to talk to Tom about.
Thanks for reading and glad you find it helpful, that’s what I was hoping for!
